RTC DS1307 module comes with a CR2032 battery holder. The RTCs are widely used where time keeping is necessary. It can used to show the current time i.e. real time. Also this module can be used to make a alarm clock also. It uses a single CR2032 battery which can run the RTC for years. The DS1307 chip can be interfaced with i2c protocol with different boards.

The DS3231 module is a Precise Real Time Clock Module based on the AT24C32 IC. The module can provide information like date, day, week and time to a microcontroller through I2C communication.

The module also has a built in lithium cell, so once the time and date is set the IC will obtain power the battery during power down to keep track of change in time. The module operates form 2.2V to 5.5V. Apart from provide time and date the module can also provide a square wave output with 1Hz frequency, there are also options to set two alarms per day.
